Hi! I am reviewing Little Darlings by Jacqueline Wilson (my favourite author).
Little Darlings is about two girls called Sunset and Destiny who have the same dad, but don't know it. Then one day they find out! I recommend this book for 8+ because you have to understand about different families and it could be confusing for younger children.
Destiny lives with her mum. Her dad is a famous rock star called Danny Kilman. He doesn't know that Destiny is his child. Sunset lives with her dad, Danny Kilman, her step-mum, half-brother Tiger and half-sister Sweetie. The two main characters meet at a concert which Danny is playing at. Destiny's mum has a letter to give Danny but he doesn't get it. Sunset picks it up and reads it and realises that she has another half-sister the same age as her! Destiny's mum says they should go to Danny's house to tell him in person that he has another daughter, so they get in a taxi and drive to his house. They get there very early in the morning and Sunset is the only one awake. Sunset sees Destiny standing outside the gate on the CCTV camera and realises that she is her half-sister. She opens the gate just as Destiny is walking away. Destiny comes in but then Danny wakes up and tells Destiny and her mum to go away or he will call the police. After that, Sunset and Destiny get in touch by email, become friends and talk about their dad.
What makes this a good book?
This is a good book because it is a nice story about friendship and it has a happy ending. I have read this book twice and on the second time I felt the same emotions as the first time even though I knew how it ends.
Who is my favourite character in the book?
My favourite character in the book is Sunset because if she hadn't picked up the letter none of the story would have happened because she wouldn't have known that Destiny was her half-sister. Also she is kind and thoughtful.
What would I rate this book out of 10?
I would rate this book 8 1/2 out of 10 because I enjoyed reading it but it is not my favourite Jacqueline Wilson book.
This book has also been made into a film which I have watched and enjoyed very much. They did change parts of the book but it is still sort of the same. I look forward to writing my next post. Bye for now!
I love that Jacqueline Wilson writes about different family situations. This sounds like a great book. Great review!
This book sounds excellent- keep the recommendations coming!
I think Jaqueline Wilson writes very good books and I like that you have explained about different family set ups. I even think I might enjoy this book even although I am way more than 8 years old!
