Review of A Day in the Life of a Poo, a Gnu and You

Hi! This week I am reviewing A Day in the Life of A Poo, a Gnu and You by Mike Barfield and Jess Bradley. This is a non-fiction book that tells you facts about the human body, the animal kingdom and earth and science.

The first section in the book is the human body. It tells you facts about your brain, for example, different parts of your brain do different jobs and that your brain does a lot of work even when you're asleep. It also tells you that there are 206 bones in an adult human skeleton but some babies have more than 300 and some of those bones fuse together as you grow.

The next section is the animal kingdom. Did you know that eucalyptus leaves are poisonous? It tells you that Sloths are the worlds slowest mammal and that flamingos feathers are only pink because of the algae that gets caught in them when they are looking for food. It also tells you that Blue Whales can grow up to 34 metres long!

In the earth and science section I learnt about different types of clouds and that about 90% of an iceberg is under the water. There are also pages about the different stages of a sunflowers growth, how rocks are formed and that a rainbow is just a trick of the light.

What makes this a good book?

This book is a good book because it tells you facts and is also funny. It has really good illustrations and it looks like a comic book so it is easy to read. Also you don't have to read it all in one go, you can just read one comic strip at a time.

Which is my favourite comic strip?

My favourite comic strip is the Koala because Koalas are my favourite animal and I learnt a lot of things about them. Did you know that Koalas are not bears, they are marsupials?

Who would I recommend this book for?

I would recommend this book to ages 6+ because it is a very funny book and would be easy to read. I think that it's good for girls and boys.

What would I rate this book out of ten?

I would rate this book 9 3/4 out of 10 because it makes me laugh and it teaches me facts.

There is another book like this by the same people which is called A Day in the Life of a Caveman, a Queen and Everything in between which is about history.

I may not write a post next week as it is half term but I will be back soon with another review. Goodbye!
